Overall a 10/10 experience. Staff were really experience and professional the entire evening and have top quality service. Food was absolutely unbelievable. lobster was on point. Had flavour and quality and cooked world class. Decent amount of meat for a lobster and a really good price compared to the area. Will definitely be going back there again to try the rest of the menu.
Really good food, I had the seafood mixed grill and each piece of fish and seafood was cooked to perfection. The pork belly was succulent, with a crispy crackly skin. Service was great. There was one minor problem, there was no toilet paper in the ladies but it wouldn’t put me off going again
Amazing food on Friday evening. Anna and her team did a fantastic job of looking after us, served specifically by Nathan who was super friendly and attentive.

Small, dark restaurant. Friendly greeting and service. Good cooking skills on show but under seasoned to my taste. The scallop starter sauce was lovely. Venison main was the standout dish. Chocolate delice is a fabulous desert.
Small business team but the food was very fantastic!! All ingredients are supper fresh and high quality. Portion of the food was also very good compare to the price wise. So far we do have a really great time at Fish a Forest. We will definitely go back again!
Cozy bistro with a fresh menu, great service and understated but delicious food. The menu was explained to us in detail and presented to us by the chef. Definitely a jewel of York.

Today I went and got a medium chips, I got home to find there was maybe a total of 20 chips in the box. Normally the portion I get is easily triple the size of not more. Bit of a joke tbh. Consistency is key.
No scraps which are my favourite and didn’t offer to make me any whilst cooking my battered jumbo like the previous cheeky fryer (Janet Street-Porter) who thinks I look like 72 year old Alan Titchmarsh. They don’t do small portions of Peas nor Large Portions of Chips but always enjoy my meal from here. (Visited 3rd March 2022)
A local to the caravan club site and a proper chippy tea place with them making a decision to do a fish of the day. So cod one day, haddock, pollock or whatever fish is available. There seems to have been a concious decision to make the food affordable too, so portions are good and not ridiculously large. The mushy peas and curry sauce were good and complimented the main course. Opens at 4pm and fresh cooked fish during quieter times.
