Bluebird Bakery

2 Little, Shambles, York YO1 7LY, United Kingdom
What We Offer:

Most big ideas start with tiny roots and our bakery began life on our kitchen table in the heart of York. After a full night baking, we sold our bread at a market stall and hand-delivered a few loaves to our neighbours and the local community pub. We couldn’t have been any smaller. But, we did see an enormous appetite for‘real bread’ – the antithesis of mass-produced additive-loaded supermarket loaves – and the fledgling Bluebird found a new nest: a restored gig-house, now our Malton bakery and shop.

Absolutely amazing and delicious bread. I cannot get enough of the 7 seeds – sourdough bread, it is definitely my favourite. The staff is always helpful and pleasant. If Carlsberg would do bread, they would ask Bluebird Bakery for the recipe.
Such delicious bread! We tried a cheese twist so delicious and flavoursome, a seseme seed flapjack lovely and the caramel shortbread incredible the caramel is absolutely amazing.
Cute artisan bakery in a cute part of York that’s worth visiting. On the pricey side (it’s artisan) but worth it if you want nice bread.

Little Arras

50 Goodramgate, York YO1 7LF, United Kingdom
What We Offer:

Little Arras is housed in a building that was once a curtain shop (in Adams youth), an Indian Restaurant, a Record store and an Ice cream shop. It’s been stripped back to its bones and deliberately has an industrial feel, we are manufacturing after all. We bake what we like, slow-fermented breads, pastries, cool cakes and nice slices. We bake dark, because bread should have some soul and if we don’t like it you won’t see it on the counter! We serve Square Mile Coffee, we think it’s the best we can find.

Lovely fresh baked goods, at very good prices. Gets very busy whenever it opens, but is worth waiting in the queue for how good everything is. Recommend trying a cruffin (croissant/muffin combo) and any of their traditional croissants. Also stock good quality coffee beans from Square Mile Coffee
I’ve never been disappointed by a baked good bought from this place! The coffee is a bit expensive, but the cakes are definitely worth it. I believe my favourite was called a Monkey cake, or something similar, but it’s been a while since I’ve had the time to attend – its definitely on the cards for a visit soon though.
The best croissant of my life. Beautiful pastries and breads as well. Could probably do with

I love Thomas the bakers. The best cheese straws and the best Danish pastries. Would add the the bakewell muffins as a particularly ‘moist’ delight. There is just a quality to the baked goods that beats the others in my opinion. It is only a take away venue this one but convenient location in town for a stop off and lunch. Easy walk to nice sit down places to eat.
