What We Offer

Over the last 25 years, we’ve grown beyond the back of a windsurfing shop. Stores can now be found up and down the country from St. Andrews to St. Ives. We’ve never forgotten where we came from though: the British coast. Every story starts with an idea. Ours was simple: to create timeless clothes inspired by the British coast. With its cobbled streets, crystal clear water and unbeatable views, Salcombe was the perfect inspiration for professional skier, Alastair Parker-Swift’s first menswear collection. When he wasn’t competing for England, Alistair ran a successful windsurfing school. It was here that Crew Clothing was born.

Founded in 2009 over cups of fresh mint tea. Co-founders (and good friends) Liz, Lisa and Jane came up with the idea for Mint Velvet in 2009, over cups of fresh mint tea at Liz’s kitchen table. After years of not finding what they wanted to wear on the high street, they had outgrown fast fashion and wanted luxurious, effortless pieces they could just slip on, nodding to the trends in a relaxed way: the concept of Relaxed Glamour was born. 13 years on, we’re known for our easy shapes, beautiful prints and flattering fits, all with thoughtful finishing touches – after all, it’s the little things that make life lovely, so you should never underestimate the power of a great outfit on a bad day.

Really fantastic service in Mint Velvet this weekend. Mum wanted to buy a jumper she’d tried previously but couldn’t find in store. She asked a member of staff for help who searched the shop floor for the top and then when she realised they didn’t have it in stock, called local stores to source it before arranging to have it delivered to the house. Couldn’t ask for more.
I ordered several garments on line and as one was sold out they found one for me in York. I live in Brighton and had no way of getting it so I phoned the shop and they were so helpful and very quickly arranged payment and delivery. The girl I spoke to was very patient as the line was not good. The customer service from the shop was excellent as was the customer service on line. Thank you so much.
Nice shop and lovely clothes. However, I can’t bear more than five minutes in there as they have hot air pumping in every season of the year! It is like being in a sauna; you stand in different areas to avoid it but the heating is just unbearable – sort it please

My parents ran a market stall in 2004 and it outgrew itself so we moved into a shop. I’ve grown up with it and so have lots of experience in sorting and grading clothes, which means what we sell is as close to perfect as can be. We stock a fantastic range of styles and sizes of American Football,  Basketball , Ice Hockey and Baseball jerseys which are directly imported from the States every month to keep  not only the shop but also the website stocked up. We have a request service – it means that you get first dibs if you’re quick enough to request a certain jersey from a particular era.  We customize various garments and also  make cushions from American football jerseys. Stocking sizes from kids’ juniors to 4 XL,

Brilliant and fun shop with staff that know what they are taking about in anything concerning American football.
Bought a t shirt and a short sleeved shirt from here. Great quality and at £32 for the two, great value for money. Will definitely visit next time I visit Brew York which is a stone’s throw away. Great clothing and great beer.
Honestly the only reason I come all this way to York! Not only is it the best priced vintage clothing store I’ve ever been to but everytime I’ve been in the friendly service received is amazing 🙂 love this shop! Always come out with some amazing finds.
